Throughout the winter months, the association meets up monthly. Each event has a different topic and speaker covering all aspects of beekeeping. If there is a subject you’d like to learn about contact our secretary at eastlothianbeekeepers@gmail.com

Winter

As the days grow shorter and the evenings draw in, the association continues to support beekeepers of all levels through the winter months. It’s a time for sharing knowledge, learning, and staying connected—bringing together both new and experienced members to prepare for the season ahead.

Courses

Our Introduction to Beekeeping course usually runs in late winter, providing a solid grounding in both the theory and practical basics for new beekeepers. Delivered over several weeks, it’s designed to build confidence ahead of the active season.

As the weather improves, we also offer practical beginner sessions, giving hands-on experience in the apiary. These sessions are ideal for complete beginners or those who have recently acquired a colony and want to build their skills in a supportive, real-world setting.

In summer, we typically host a taster day—an opportunity to experience beekeeping first-hand and see if it’s something you’d like to explore further.
